Question 1

Is Rodrigo Bentancur a reliable DEFCON asset in Fantasy Premier League?

Accepted Answer

This is one of the standout DEFCON returns in the league. earned the +2pt DEFCON bonus in 2 of 5 appearances this season, with a 40% hit rate on the +2pt DEFCON bonus. That defensive workload sits in the top tier for midfielders across the league and points to a repeatable +2pt DEFCON floor when the 12-action threshold is cleared. The sample is still small at 370 minutes, so treat the rate as a signal rather than a settled read. In a season where DEFCON matters, this is the profile you want.

Question 2

How does Bentancur rank among Fantasy Premier League midfielders for DEFCON?

Accepted Answer

Bentancur is currently the number one ranked FPL midfielder for defensive contribution actions per 90 minutes this season, out of 125 eligible players. That is the ceiling of what any manager can find at this position on defensive workload alone. The next question is whether the fixture run and attacking output back up the defensive case.

Question 3

What do Bentancur's raw defensive numbers look like this Fantasy Premier League season?

Accepted Answer

Bentancur has racked up 37 combined clearances, blocks, interceptions and tackles across 370 minutes. That works out to 9.0 defensive actions per 90 minutes on average. The 12-plus threshold has been cleared in 2 of 5 appearances, converting to the +2pt DEFCON bonus each time. 370 minutes is a small sample - the raw figures are directional rather than definitive.

Question 4

Should I sign Rodrigo Bentancur for Gameweek 6 on DEFCON grounds?

Accepted Answer

On DEFCON grounds the underlying case is strong at 14.59 defensive contribution actions per 90 - one of the best workloads in the position. The Gameweek 6 fixture is away at Man Utd, an FDR 4 matchup. A tougher matchup will not neutralise the DEFCON output because it is action-based rather than result-based, but the attacking upside is reduced. Signings on this profile are best sized around a longer-run fixture plan.
