Question 1

Is Xaver Schlager a reliable DEFCON asset in Fantasy Premier League?

Accepted Answer

The numbers do most of the talking. earned the +2pt DEFCON bonus in 4 of 9 appearances this season, with a 44% hit rate on the +2pt DEFCON bonus. That defensive workload sits in the top tier for midfielders across the league and points to a repeatable +2pt DEFCON floor when the 12-action threshold is cleared. For anyone tracking defensive contributions the case is straightforward.

Question 2

How does Schlager rank among Fantasy Premier League midfielders for DEFCON?

Accepted Answer

Schlager sits at number 5 of 69 eligible midfielders for DEFCON per 90. That is a top-ten profile - the underlying rate is strong enough that any manager building around defensive contributions should have this player on the shortlist.

Question 3

What do Schlager's raw defensive numbers look like this Fantasy Premier League season?

Accepted Answer

Schlager has racked up 46 combined clearances, blocks, interceptions and tackles across 666 minutes. That works out to 6.2 defensive actions per 90 minutes on average. The 12-plus threshold has been cleared in 4 of 9 appearances, converting to the +2pt DEFCON bonus each time. 666 minutes is enough to see the shape of the underlying rate, though a larger sample would tighten confidence.

Question 4

Should I sign Xaver Schlager for Gameweek 10 on DEFCON grounds?

Accepted Answer

On DEFCON grounds the underlying case is strong at 12.16 defensive contribution actions per 90 - one of the best workloads in the position. The Gameweek 10 fixture is at home to Man City, an FDR 4 matchup. A tougher matchup will not neutralise the DEFCON output because it is action-based rather than result-based, but the attacking upside is reduced. Signings on this profile are best sized around a longer-run fixture plan.
