Question 1

Is Joe Willock a reliable DEFCON asset in Fantasy Premier League?

Accepted Answer

Do not build a transfer on the defensive rate alone. earned the +2pt DEFCON bonus in 0 of 8 appearances this season. Joe Willock averages 5.14 defensive contribution actions per 90 minutes across 473 minutes played (27 total actions this season). That places Joe Willock below the level where DEFCON becomes a genuinely bankable weekly return, so any manager signing them should be doing so for attacking output or fixture reasons rather than defensive contributions. If your team leans on defensive contributions, this is not the profile to lead with.

Question 2

How does Willock rank among Fantasy Premier League midfielders for DEFCON?

Accepted Answer

Willock ranks 66 of 67 eligible midfielders for DEFCON per 90 - the 3th percentile at their position. That places them below the level where DEFCON should be a leading reason to own them. Attacking output, price, and fixtures need to carry more of the weight in the buying case.

Question 3

What do Willock's raw defensive numbers look like this Fantasy Premier League season?

Accepted Answer

Willock has racked up 14 combined clearances, blocks, interceptions and tackles across 473 minutes. That works out to 2.7 defensive actions per 90 minutes on average. The 12-plus threshold has been cleared in 0 of 8 appearances, converting to the +2pt DEFCON bonus each time. 473 minutes is enough to see the shape of the underlying rate, though a larger sample would tighten confidence.

Question 4

Should I sign Joe Willock for Gameweek 10 on DEFCON grounds?

Accepted Answer

Joe Willock's defensive workload of 5.14 actions per 90 is too thin to build a transfer around. The Gameweek 10 fixture is away at Fulham, an FDR 3 matchup. If the attacking case is strong for other reasons, DEFCON is not the reason to hold back - but it should not be the reason to bring them in either.
